FAQs

I have a home studio in the semi-rural village of Stonehouse, South Lanarkshire, Scotland. I’m happy to travel within South Lanarkshire and throughout the greater Glasgow area in order to accommodate people, although I may charge for travel expenses if a lot of travel is involved. Stonehouse is easily accessed from Glasgow by the 3C express bus. However, some people feel more comfortable being measured in their own space, if they aren’t used to the process.
Please note that my studio is located on the first floor and my house is on a slope, so stairs will be involved. If you have mobility issues or need accommodations then please let me know.

I’m happy to do almost any clothing alterations, as well as hemming soft furnishings and doing repairs. I will do basic tailoring alterations to men’s suits, waistcoats and trousers, but any major changes I may refer you on to tailor.

Prices vary depending on the job. I will always give you a quote before I complete any work.
For a general guide, please see my Pricing Page.

The time frame required for each job varies considerably. Simple alterations can probably be returned to you in a couple of days, whereas bespoke wedding gowns and historical costumes will require a few months, as I recommend at least three fittings.
I can usually be flexible and try my best to accommodate everyone, so please get in touch, even if you think that your request is last minute.

If you require a number of alterations or makes for your wedding then I can absolutely work something out with you, depending on the time frame and the scope of work. Group fittings with a bridal party, for instance, is cost effective and it can also be more fun and less intimidating for everyone.

Unfortunately no. I’m not a men’s tailor or kilt maker. However, I do know some very skilled independent tailors and kilt makers and I will be happy to put you in touch with them if you’re interested.
-
Absolutely. I’m very happy for clients to do their own fabric shopping or to use fabric that they already have. I always quote prices separate from material costs, so fabric is an area where you can make adjustments with your budget if needed.

100% yes. My business is completely inclusive. I want everyone to feel completely comfortable and safe in my space. In light of the current state of transphobia in the UK I want to make it clear that I am a trans-friendly business and am passionate about making and altering clothes that affirm who you are.

Yes! All bodies are good bodies! I run a completely body positive business and strongly believe that your clothes should fit your body, not the other way around. Unfortunately a lot of people are uncomfortable about their bodies , and I’ll do everything I can to make you feel great in your clothes regardless of your size.
